Measurement of Blood lactate among some Koreans

Abstract
This study was carried out to obtain the technical knowledge about blood lactate level in 100 healthy Koreans and compared by age, sex, and other country¢¥s level.
Huckabee modification of the Barker and Summerson chemical method was employed for the test. The results were as followings:
1) The blood lactate level was 10.27gm/100m1 and the ranges from 5.3 to 17.1mg/100m1 for 100 healthy Koreans tested.
This level was similar that of U.S. y. healthy population which was reported 10.9mg/100ml.
2) The age-specific level of the mean blood lactate were 10.673mg/100m1 for 19 years of age group, 11.235 mg/100ml for 20 to 29 years, 10.078mg/100m1 for 30 to 39 years and 9.293mg/100ml for the group older than 40 years respectively for the total population examined.
3) The mean blood lactate level by sex presented not significant difference (p>0.05);10. 702 mg/ 100ml among 52 males and 10.588mg/100 among 48 females.
4) The normal range of blood lactate levels obtained in different laboratories may vary with methodology and the technique of withdrawing and preserving the venous blood.
We are advisable to perform the analysis with Barker-Summerson chemical method in Korea.
